Mechanical Polishing

Mechanical polishing is the mechanical smoothing and removal of contaminates.

This process is used to smooth welds, prepare metal surfaces for electropolishing, or provide a surface with a specified roughness. IMC can provide mechanical polishing on parts 36" wide and up to 20 ft long.

Mechanical polishing and buffing involves placing shapes on a computer controlled sliding bed, where the parts are automatically conveyed under a buffing wheel that is programmed for optimal speed and strokes to complete the required polishing. Virtually any metal can be polished to a high luster finish using this method.
